Fiddlesticks Historic Fireplace Restoration

Fiddlesticks 'Campfire's burning ~Outdoor Youth Engagement' project would not be possible without the restoration of the historic outdoor fireplace on our community centre property.

 

Grand River Conservation Foundation

Shade's Mills Natural Playground & Amphitheatre

$50,000.00

The Shade's Mills Natural Playground will be located within Shade's Mills Conservation Area. This area will feature structures such as logs, boulders, and other naturally occurring materials that provide children and youth with an opportunity to play and create in a safe outdoor environment. This playground will support the GRCA's Outdoor Education Program, YMCA/YWCA Day Camps and all park visitors.

 

Interfaith Community Counselling Centre

Expanding Hope Campaign

$12,000.00

With 9 therapists, 2 administrators and a 50% increase in counseling services over the past four years, ICCC's main strategic goal for 2014-2017 was acquisition of additional counseling space. The Expanding Hope Campaign will support our mission to improve services, increase accessibility and ultimately provide the best possible mental health services in a rural community.

 

Kinbridge Community Association

Growing Spaces Together

$300,000.00

KCA is moving to ground level and with the City of Cambridge are renovating the space so that all community members will have accessible space to participate in programs and services meeting their needs. Equally important, is creating a warm, friendly atmosphere for youth, cultivating a sense of belonging.

 

Langs Farm Village Association

Building the Grow Centre

$60,000.00

Langs began operating Popcorn House programs in 2012. In January 2015, Popcorn House found a new home in Hespeler; it was re-branded as the Grow Community Centre.  Exterior improvements are desperately needed to be more appealing to both the community at large and neighbourhood residents accessing programs and services.

 

Mennohomes Inc.

Affordable Housing for Low Income Households in Elmira

$25,000.00

A multi-generational low-income housing apartment building that will strengthen young families by intentionally building support networks and relationships within the building; seniors mentoring young parents. The barrier free construction will also benefit family households where a family member may be experiencing mobility challenges.

 

The Working Centre

Youth Mixed Media Production Studio

$98,900.00

The Commons Studio project is developing a mixed media production studio and workshop area in the basement of 256 King Street East in Kitchener. We will offer low income youth opportunities through camps and workshops to build skills related to film-making and production, and stop-animation.

 

THEMUSEUM

Underground Studio - a community makerspace

$50,000.00

The Underground Studio at THEMUSEUM is a makerspace for experimentation to bolster Waterloo Region's culture of ingenuity, and provide youth with the tools, supervision and know-how to ignite their passions. Expertly designed education programs are led by THEMUSEUM, with help of partners in Waterloo Region to create a breeding ground for future woodworkers, computer engineers, electricians, techies and do-it-yourself enthusiasts.

Moffat Creek Public School Wetland Learning Grounds

$100,000.00

Our goal is to transform the school yard into an interactive natural learning environment filled with options for inquiry-based study, native to our beautiful wetland location, while providing engaging play opportunity in shaded areas. Children will expand imaginations, sense of adventure and ability to assess risks in a safe environment while becoming environmental stewards and advocates.

 

Waterloo Region Catholic Schools Foundation (WRCSF)

Heart of the Community - Active Living Centre

$300,000.00

The project will add accessible play and recreation facilities complementing the existing infrastructure of sports field, track, fitness stations, school facilities and public library to create an Active Living Centre.  This will create a foundation for a wide variety of programming to support the healthy development of youth and families.

 

Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region, Haven House

Rebuild Haven House....She Deserves It

$75,000.00

Indoor children and youth play and programming area at Haven House which serves children escaping violence and abuse in our Region.

 

Woolwich Recreational Facility Foundation

Splash Pad/Ice Rink

$75,000.00

We will build an Ice Rink & Splash Pad System which will have dual year round use of one common concrete pad.  The concrete pad will have refrigeration for continued use in winter and have splash pad features installed in summer

 

YMCA of Cambridge

Re-purpose Chaplin Family YMCA First Floor & Relocate the YMCA Teen Drop-In Zone

$150,000.00

Re-purpose the Chaplin Family YMCA First Floor (West Wing) and Relocate the YMCA Teen Drop-In Zone, there increasing access to recreation for low income youth in the Cambridge community.

A capital grant to transform women's addiction services; creating an integrated centre of excellence for addiction treatment where women can build their recovery, improve their health, and increase attachment and relationships with their children for positive parenting, improved healthy child development, and the promotion of development assets.

 

KidsAbility, Centre for Child Development
Centre for Autism
$100,000
KidsAbility will expand into an extra 6,300 square feet of space on the second floor of our KidsAbility Kitchener site for the new Centre for Autism. This new space will house KidsAbility's two existing Waterloo-based Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) autism teams, as well as three community partners that support families and children with autism and other special needs.

 

Woolwich Recreational Facility Foundation
Skate Elmira
$50,000
The Woolwich Recreational Facility Foundation proposes to raise $500,000 to build a skateboard park in Elmira which will provide a safe and accessible venue for physical activity and to practice skateboarding as well as a gathering place for teenagers and the whole community.  When completed, the facility will provide a venue from which to run mentoring programs for at-risk youth in the community.

 

YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo
Playing in the Garden

YWCA Mary’s Place will be creating a garden-like play area that will immediately benefit families and children at the shelter, increasing their participation in recreation and outdoor programming and assisting in providing the additional benefits of play for all children.

A capital grant to offset the cost of the gymnasium in the Family Centre which will provide programming, direct service, and recreational opportunities to assist disadvantaged families, youth, and children in reaching their full potential.

Discover the Joy of Reading
$50,000
A grant to help make the Children's Department a stimulating space for children age 0-5. The Discovery Zone will be a destination for families with young children, and the programming available will encourage the development of critical pre-literacy skills.

The purpose of the Community Hub Services for Children and Families is to create accessible community space dedicated to meet the recreational, social and health needs of youth and families.
